Papercraft Prototype Process

 This is a documentation of process of making a paper-craft retro TV.
Below is the template created in Rhino and printed on card stock.

 

Templates has been cut, trimmed, and folded appropriately.
The front 'frame' has been separated into to objects, while the larger template completes the back.

 

'Frame' assembled with glue.
Also added addition of a curved screen; a homage to retro television architecture.

The complete prototype.
There were certainly errors in manufacturing the glue tabs, and I wish the overall size is larger.
Glad that all the components were true to size and fits.
Will take strong considerations for the final; as well as ideas to add '2D' details.

 The culture of 'remixing/mashup' comprises of taking concepts/existing works and compiling them into a different idea, whether objective or surreal. A hand coming out of a mug. An unusual concept, given the wrist is inside the mug. A boat on a fork. Would you eat that? A skull train on ship steering wheels. Contrary to what ships usually are on: an ocean. Tentacles emerging from a TV. Demonstrates a horror genre. A giant cat beside a lighthouse. The contrast of scale illustrates the greater volume of the cat. Tentacles emerging from headphones. Another horror theme, who would put that on? A tank shooting an apple. One would expect a powerful tank to shoot shells. A penguin skating. They usually do not do that. Someone is getting fired. Crispy tentacle fries, not how anyone would expect them to be. Another size comparison; scale is contrasted heavily here with the goat and tower.

Mesh Mashup CONT. #2

    Further developing from the headphones in the previous assignment, these new headphones were given padding and vibrant colours. The colours were chosen specifically to convey a tri-complimentary palette, emphasizing the tentacles with a warm colour; in contrast to cooler colours. Meshes have been slightly refined and sectioned accordingly to create this object. Overall, a pair of appealing headphones with a rather surreal remix to them.
